Intermarché, the 3rd largest supermarket chain in France decided to transform the public’s perception of imperfect fruits and vegetables.
They literally gave these “inglorious” pieces of produce their own aisle and an amazing thing happened.
Starring the Grotesque Apple, the Ridiculous Potato, the Hideous Orange, the Failed Lemon, the Disfigured Eggplant, the Ugly Carrot, and the Unfortunate Clementine, this is a brilliant way to strengthen the fight against food waste.
A shocking 1/3 of all food produced, or 1.3 billion tons, gets lost or wasted according to one major world study, and many of the world’s “ugliest” vegetables never even make it to store shelves.
Instead, they find themselves tossed into the garbage, never to see the light of day.
