There’s something so satisfying about an ice-cold popsicle on a hot summer day. But if you take the time to consider what makes them so bright and visually appealing, you might think twice about actually consuming them.
The solution? Check out this delicious creamsicle recipe from holistic nutritionist, Karen Foster (Note: It’s kid and grown-up friendly):
One of my favorite popsicle-ice cream combinations as a child was an orange creamsicle. I would down them like water. The problem was, I always felt sick afterwards because of the artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors, artificial colors, among other ingredients that were, well did I mention artificial? The milk itself was also a problem.
There is an alternative and it can be made organic if desired. It’s low in calories and high on taste. So good in fact, that once you try this recipe, you’ll wonder how you ever considered a regular creamsicle tasty at all.
Homemade Orange Creamsicle Recipe
1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (pulp in is my preference)
1 cup coconut milk
2 tablespoons raw honey or maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 drops stevia
